From the Garden and Heart of Nana Anne
If you’ve ever snapped open a leaf from an aloe plant, you know exactly why it’s been treasured for thousands of years. Inside those thick green leaves is a cool, clear gel that’s wonderfully soothing for the skin.
I always keep aloe vera close by, whether it’s for a little too much sunshine in the garden or simply to give my skin an extra drink of moisture. It’s one of those simple plants that earns its place in every home.
💚 Why I Love Aloe Vera
Aloe vera is mostly water, but it’s also packed with naturally occurring vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and soothing plant compounds that help comfort and nourish the skin.
Here are just a few reasons it’s become one of my favorite skincare ingredients.
☀️ It Soothes Sun-Kissed Skin
After spending hours tending my garden, my face sometimes gets a little more sunshine than I planned. Aloe vera cools the skin and helps calm redness, making it a wonderful after-sun treat.
💧 It Gives Dry Skin a Drink of Water
Unlike heavy creams, aloe vera hydrates without leaving your skin feeling greasy. It absorbs quickly and leaves your skin feeling fresh and soft.
🌿 It Helps Calm Troubled Skin
If your skin is irritated or prone to occasional breakouts, aloe vera’s natural soothing properties may help reduce redness while supporting healthy-looking skin.
🌸 Aloe Vera Isn’t Just for Your Skin
One surprising use for aloe vera is as a natural mouth rinse.
Some studies suggest that pure aloe vera juice, used as a mouthwash, may help reduce dental plaque and soothe irritated gums.
This is similar to oil pulling if you are familiar with that. If you choose to try it:
• Swish pure aloe vera juice around your mouth for about 30 seconds.
• Spit it out completely—don’t swallow it.
• As always, check with your dentist or healthcare provider if you have any questions about adding it to your oral care routine.

🌿 How I Use Aloe Vera with My Skincare
I’ve seen lots of videos online where people mix aloe vera gel directly into facial oils.
Personally, I don’t recommend doing that.
Here’s why…
Aloe vera is water-based, while my Nana Anne’s Anti-Aging Botanical Serum is completely oil-based.
Oil and water simply don’t stay mixed without special ingredients called emulsifiers. Once water is added to an oil blend, you also need a preservative to help prevent bacteria, yeast, and mold from growing.
I’d rather keep things simple—and safe.
Instead, I use the aloe before my serum.
🌿 Nana Anne’s Simple Aloe Routine
Morning or evening, this little routine leaves my skin feeling soft, calm, and hydrated.
- Wash your face.
- Apply a thin layer of 100% pure organic aloe vera gel.
- Let it soak in for about 30 to 60 seconds.
- Mix 3–5 drops of Nana Anne’s Anti-Aging Botanical Serum into your favorite moisturizer and gently massage it into your face and neck.
The aloe gives your skin:
💧 A burst of lightweight hydration
🌿 A soothing feeling for dry or irritated skin
❤️ A calmer, fresher-looking complexion
✨ The perfect base for your facial oils
Then the botanical oils help seal in all that wonderful moisture.
It’s one of my favorite bedtime rituals.
🌿 A Note from Nana Anne
As always, be safe! Patch test new ingredients before using them, and if you have any concerns or a skin condition, check with your doctor or dermatologist. Natural doesn’t always mean right for everyone. 💚

🌱 The Aloe Vera I Use
One day I hope to harvest enough gel from my own aloe plants, but they still have a little growing to do.

Until then, I buy 100% organic, pure aloe vera gel with as few ingredients as possible. It’s the closest thing to fresh from the plant that I’ve found, and it works beautifully.

Sometimes the simplest plants are the ones that care for us the best.
Whether you’re growing aloe on your windowsill or using a bottle of pure organic gel like I do, I hope you’ll discover why this amazing little plant has earned a place in my daily skincare routine.
Until next time…
🌿 From my garden to your glow,
With love,
